Vaughn Monroe, ol' Leather Lungs, "I Wish I didn't Love You So". What a voice and orchestra.
Wasn't there a World War and rationing (among other things) going on then??"I Dreamt I Dwelt in Harlem", who else but Glenn Miller. Oh for the days when hotels had ball rooms, radio was live, people dressed with class and actually danced and the world was a better place!!!
Average life expectancy was 12 years less than now. Almost none of the current state of the art medical treatments existed then. Children still died from diphtheria and rheumatic fever. Women died in childbirth. There was enough penicillin in the world to only treat one woman in the UK as an experiment. (She survived.) Polio paralyzed children for life. (The president then hadn't walked unaided in over 20 years.)Wasn't there a World War and rationing (among other things) going on then??
I didn't think I was arguing-- sorry if you thought I was.Figgered there'd be naysayers. Only an idiot would argue the advances in medicine and I'll be darned if I can see ANYWHERE I denied or even mentioned that.
We didn't start WWII, if you know your history but, we did finish it. If we had to fight that war today, we'd lose.
No, it wasn't all peaches and cream but I'd take the civility of then as compared to today, every day of the week.
Now, care to argue the things I mentioned?
There's always something going on.Wasn't there a World War and rationing (among other things) going on then??
Wooob, Wooob, Wooob ! (Is that how you spell it?)There's always something going on.
