I feel the same way about my G5622T.
I wasn't even looking for another guitar at the time. And I had a brand new G5320T that was still amazing me every time I played it.
But while visiting the local GC looking for strings, I spotted the 5622 (first generation, cat's eyes, three Super Hilotrons) hanging in the "used" section, I had to see how that sounded. The playability was the first surprise, the setup being perfect. Then, after I figured out the switching, the versatility became something I couldn't get enough of.
There are twenty other guitars in my house. Strats, Teles, LP's, you name it, but that big green Gretsch gets as much play as any of the others.

I own 2nd and 3rd gen 5622's and I love them both, but I'm still on the lookout for a good deal on a used 1st gen triple-pickup monster! 😀

I bought a 5420T a couple of months back for a project and changed my mind, so I sold it. I also bought a 6120 56 not long ago. I've decided I will never sell the Aspen Green 5420T that I am referencing in this post. Not only is it an exceptional guitar but I have an emotional bond with it lol. For reals
How about a pic of this guitar? I’d love to see it as I can’t picture the Aspen Green in my head.

I have a Korean made 5410T Rat Rod and love it. It’s a great player as is and makes a great candidate for upgrades. Overall build quality and fit & finish is better than the Chinese made 5422TG I own. Both are well made though. If Epiphone’s dramatic improvement in current end result is an indication of what those factories are capable of then I’d say Gretsch guitars from their overseas factory should only continue to improve.

Oh that’s a good idea if you have those tones. I don’t think I’ve heard any from my two Gretsch’s. Maybe I haven’t been listening good enough.
I use gromets in my 5420T with has the V Bigsby, I will be getting some for my Smoke which has the V Bigsby (and has the same ping). My other 6120 has a (B6?) Bigsby and does not have a ping. I'm guessing the distance from the strings to the bridge is longer on the V Bigsby. That V Bigsby also had a ping on my 99 T Rose

Same here. I agree that the overall build quality and fit & finish is excellent. I changed the pickups to Gretsch high sensitivity filter'trons and the bridge to AllParts bar bridge. Also made matching burled maple pickguard, pickup rings and truss rod cover for a "custom look". Now it has such sentimental value, and draws out so much inspiration, I have no desire for a Japanese Pro model (e.g. Falcon).
