Not sure about the title but a shift in my thinking is taking place. My #1 is still my 000-18GE ‘37 with the sunburst
but since I added Sweetwaters exclusive style 28. Their special order of a HD28v with the older golden era specs and a forward shifted x brace my playing has shifted to a balance of the two. Martin guitar both but each with its own place in my tonal journey. It hasn’t all shaken out yet but between those two and the Little Martin with the Sitka top each is finding its own place in my playing and once again my electrics are neglected. I imagine once my remodeling is done and I have an actual room for music it will all get more play time because it will be handy rather than packed into small corners for temporary storage. But I digress I am pleasantly surprised as to how each acoustic is carving out its own place in my playing time. IMG_8453.jpeg

Thanks @thunder58 yea it is a beautiful guitar the 000 is as well but the mahogany is just typical mahogany all the tone but nice normal wood. The rosewood on the dread is gorgeous. I was never a huge dread fan but now that I’ve been playing it I am really growing to love it. Deep and big! The 000 has the Martin tone but more balanced to me and way more comfortable to play sitting. The 28 will get more comfortable as the belly shrinks, my belly not the guitars! I put 12 on the LM but it is a bit more twangy that it was. I’ll let the string a break in but if that doesn’t go away I am going back up to the 13 it came with. All that said tonally they are so different. It’s a joy to have all three.

I tabled off again. On point tonally tue dread put out the bass and volume without being overwhelming. The 000-18 has great bass and balance just so sweet to listen to and can get loud but isn’t quite as powerful as the dread and it has what I would call a typical difference in tone I would associate with the different tone woods. The 000-18 Adirondack source and Mahogany. The style 28 also had an Adirondack spruce top but has East Indian Rosewood back and sides.

I would be very interested in hearing the a dread with a Sitka top and East Indian rosewood back and side built to the same specs side by side with mine same with the 000. Curiosity is very strong.

Nice Martins you have there.

is that 000-18GE a 1937 year model? if so it looks great for that old.
No it was reissued in the early 2000s with those specs. This one was built in 2007. They only made them for a handful of years as far as I can remember. They stopped then reintroduced the authentic line with a significant price increase same specs mostly though. I always wondered if the first GE at this time was an experiment to see how they would be received. You sure don’t see these go up for sale to often used. There just happens to be one from 2008 on reverb now no sunburst asking 1200$ more than I paid new. I’m now curious if they will get that much and no I am no way now how selling mine. The 000 and style 28 and older Little Martin are keepers and every other guitar will go before them if the need ever arose.

But 4400$ on fever for a no sunburst 2008 seems a bit high to me. That said I have seen some people looking for one because the had to have it. Maybe the seller will luck out! I wish him luck.

You there is one other dangerous problem, the same issue that caused me to buy the Gretsch Penguin Parlor. The Little Martin sounded so good I kept wondering is an 0 or 00 sized would be even better since it’s all wood. The Penguin was nice but a bit to far towards a Taylor tone. Which is nice but not my preference. So I think a solid wood small body is in my future.
