So glad Gretsch does not take advantage of their history and namesake!

I can't muster the fauxrage for stuff like this. It bothers me much more that states take advantage of and prey their citizens and rip them off in small amounts that amount to billions of dollars with lotteries, than some insanely rich person buying an overpriced toy. I'd rather them spend their money on guitars than other things that are actually harmful to society.

This new Gibson Kirk Hammett based on his Peter Green 59 has the most ridiculous price tag! How dare they!

It's also particularly galling in that the guitar's two previous owners - Mr Green and Gary Moore - had to sell the guitar due to financial difficulties, which Mr. Hammett hasn't had, yet gets the money from Gibson for the rights.

On the other hand, as Henry points out, the target market isn't most of us here, it's rich guys to hang on their walls and occasionally play. I wonder how many working musicians, even highly successful ones, would spend the money to acquire such a guitar?

I hate rich people for being rich!

Not really, JK. We don't know how wealthy people got where they did. Hard work, strong work ethic, rags to riches? Live and let live. People can spend or not spend their money anyway they like.

I also don't begrudge businesses and corporations for marketing and selling expensive items. If they miss the mark and there's no target market for their product, they won't sell it.

Whether we like it or not, KH is a professional musician. I’m not his greatest fan(he seems perfectly nice though), but credits to him for actually playing the Greeny guitar at live shows.
The frets are totally worn but he doesn’t want it refretted cause of its historic significance.

Well, if you think about how much an original '59 Les Paul could cost in the actual market, at 20.000 it's almost a bargain :)
Anyway, even if it should cost 2.000 I wouldn't (couldn't) buy it, so...

Ah, Come-On, I'll bet you make that in tips...

Where me on the other-hand...I'm eating re-heated beans again, that have been re-heated for the third time, this time I'll need to ad a little water...

Hey Mike,

Not ridiculous, just priced for a market that is not ours, like anything ''exotic''.

I'm currently in ''my'' final decision process regarding the purchase of a Gibson, US made Les Paul ''Tribute'' model in Honey Burst.

$1200. and change...with a soft case and full package of goodies.

Now that's priced for a market that I can live with...

Besides, I'm not a Kirk Hammett fan anyway. I'm thinking more Gary Rossington...

Best,

BIB.

Weren`t last year`s Customshop Korina V and Eplorer USD 30.000+? Sold-out in a minute! True.

And don`t forget that Gibson Beo Scala Master artisan collection offerings that were up to USD 64.000,-. Sold in a minute, too.

Obviously there is a big market willing to pay for guitars like that.
