I know this is old news, but still sad.
Not going to lie i haven't listened to much of their last couple albums, but everything from 1981-1993 has stuck to my core.
Depeche Mode were the first real band making real music that i got into as a kid. I have spent so much of my life listening to their albums that i think of the band more as far off family around the world or something like that.
