As many Nocturne Brain pedals as I've owned, I've never had the Mystery Brain... I've put it off for years. For slapback I've pushed my Strymon El Capistan with an Atomic Brain and have been satisfied... or so I thought. Bottom line: The Strymon will now be going up for sell... Holy **** this pedal is amazing. I read all the hype and couldn't understand how it could be that much better than anything in my rig but admittedly, I was so wrong. I'm playing through a Carr Impala and a 6120 RHH / AmPro Tele and I'm in slapback heaven. My tone does not get lost or buried in this pedal. It comes through crystal clear with the richest and most retro slapback I've ever heard. I was born way after the 50's but somehow when I played this pedal I had a 50s flashback... 🙃 One of the best pedals I've ever purchased and could really be the only pedal on my board and I'd be happy. The color of this pedal is Pecos Red which is kind of cool. It reminds me of a rusty red (red orange). If Tavo makes one in Red Hot Tamale, I'll buy 2! I'm probably preaching to the choir on this forum. Anyways, if you're on the fence, it's well worth every dollar.

Sweet pedal! Recently Nocturne had two batches of orange. The first was Smoke Orange (a kind if satin or slightly see through I think), the second darker orange and may have been called Viper Orange or something. It could be the lighting, but yours looks more like one of the oranges.

Killer pedal either way. Enjoy rockin’ the great ol’ Mystery Brain!

I never heard of Nocturne pedals until I came here next thing I know I have a Mystery Brain a Jr Barnyard a Seltzerado 2 FuzzRay a Nail Head a Ubangi Stomp and an El Pescadoro And a Babay Blondeshell! A fluid drive may be next not sure yet. The MB Jr B and ElP seem to work well with my triple 00-18GE I put the KK pure western mini pickups in back in ‘07. So some of them aren’t just for electric guitar! Try them with acoustic and Bass! I actually think I have seen @TV the Wired Turtle say he has used it on an upright bass.

Thanks! The second one is actually the Pecos Red I have, not Tamale (I wish!). It definitely looks more orange in person.

Cool. It’s likely either the photo or my phone that’s throwing off the color. It’s a digital world.

Btw, there’s like a Treble cut switch on the inside for the echo itself. Super easy to spot if you want to try it out to see how you fancy your echo.

Awesome pedal! I love mine (and it is orange). You can't go wrong with this pedal—my favorite by a long shot.

I've been honestly shocked that there has been such a great response on ORANGE mysterybrain pedals. I mean I absolutely love Orange, its a spiritual color and a color of power.. yet if you look at graphs on the psychology of color especially
in the retail market; Men
tend to purchase the color Blue more often then any other color. Even though I am not a fan of blue personally, its been proven true for a long while as I've moved through many iterations of the color blue.
Even though a Roland RE-301 space echo is GREEN, silver and black.. Blue has been a clear winner.
BUT ITS SOOOOO boring, and I took a chance finally over this last year to do
something for me.. selfishly and that was to go Orange on a Mysterybrain knowing I'd
probably sell orange MB's much more slowly :) But that wasnt the case, they sold out quickly.
Then sadly I got a note from my powder coater that that cool smoke orange candy color was discontinued..
but as circumstances would have it, they had Viper Orange and it was popular too, then this Pecos Red.
Which was a name I made up because its more like a blood orange meets a cherry.
Gretsch had a color on a Panther just like this called Flagstaff Sunset.. which looked and sounded like Pecos Red to my mind. :)
I love to play with color as you know, it keeps me fired up especially w these little boxes of fun. (btw OMG on this Panther, I WANT IT!)

Which was the coppery liking one? I almost bought one even though I already had a gorgeous green one! For me it’s all about color. I can’t stand boring same old same old. You keep mixing it up and I think these will become holy grail pedals at some point. I should save some cash and buy a couple just to resell in ten years when they are going for 2 to 3 k$ each!

I think orange holds a special place in the hearts of most Gretsch lovers. And it does match well with the BS aspect of it as well.

The only downfall of changing colors for me is there’s more I like than I have money for!

I went from six pedals down to two - my MB and a tuner!
Now added back on the board - with an El Pescadoro!
Nocturne Pedals are the best!

I'll stick with the Rumble Seat. Both pedals are great. Mystery Brain has a pre-amp but other than that, both pedals are on a par for me.
