Only the best service from Nocturne.

That Tiki looks like it could double as a bottle opener! I think I recall a similar paint job in red sometime. Was it painted by a member on here?
It was painted by Jose Serna in OC, California. It a solid chicano ranfla style paint style and this instrument has a touch of about 5 different applications. Usually shot over a metal flake or metallic silver/gold base then candied. This is a vintage coronado body that was stripped of its original sunburst paint job (not my doing). ps. yes that Tiki is a bottle opener. I havent screwed it into the Gretsch Bigsby hiding underneath it..cuz..well... its gretsch. its sacred :)

Sorry to derail the thread with another tangent. But I just saw this Hot Rod on the Reverb, and thought it was relevant to the bottle opener topic. Is it still sacrilege if the bottle opener itself is Gretsch branded? I guess with no other pots on the Hot Rod, he has some room for actual bottle caps!

that bottle opener will rip right off there unless they've fortified it internally. which then changes the guitars oem resonance?? :) I think the biggst blasphemy are the dumbuckers haha :) ps. I had a hotrod w dumbuckers for a minute, then I swapped in some powertrons which were a little more on par w the great gretsch sound while still keeping the warm PAF punch.

Maybe I’m the only one thinks that’s a waste of a good Hot Rod and feel sorry for it. While I enjoy customizing and normally hold my negative opinions to myself… that guitar screams trying to hard that it’s very cheesy and off putting to me.

The Gretsch opener is cool but I’d prefer it not on the guitar. Maybe if there’s a way to not mount it permanently on an amp or other music gear. The Tiki Bigsby opener is cool to me because it’s stealth like.

If you dont like attachments to a perfectly fine stock gretsch.. (heehee) you might not like Jack White's Gretsch G6118 with the microphone integrated by Randy Parsons, a customer I just sent two dynobrain circuits to. :) The Triple Green Machine (right click for close up)

That’s totally different. There’s no cheesiness at all and it serves a purpose. Admittedly, nothing I would want to own though.

Interesting on the Dyno Brain circuits. If he’s a luthier, I’m guessing he mounting it to a guitar of some sort?

One of his Parson builds w the bat skulls that glow :) A guy that I build custom handwired pedals for has a slew of the ones that Randy Parsons built for Jack White, in his own studio.
