As far as I know, a great part of the instruments in that museum comes from the BTO guitarist Randy Bachman's personal Gretsch collection (he had circa 300 instruments if I am correct). The tell-tale story says that Fred Gretsch came smiling with humor and joke to Randy Bachman "can I buy my museum ?" ;)

A+!

I remember seeing the grand opening video. Great that we have a "museum" dedicated to these amazing instruments. I just find it disappointing that most of them are hanging 15 to 20 ft in the air instead of available for an up-close view.

Safer maybe, but if I drove a couple hundred miles to see them and then couldn't get any closer than that? I'd be mighty, mighty disappointed.

I’m with you on the height thing. Most visitors are likely musicians and would prefer to see them up close. The museum planners designing the layout obviously don’t play any instruments.
