For the record, I use a luggage scale to weigh my guitars.

Aerodyne Strat is the lightest I have at about your 7.2 lbs after that the Penguin and the Minarick Lotus are around or just over 9lbs. I can't imagine a guitar at the 5 lb range!

I literally laughed out loud! I wish I had thought about that one.

I have a handheld luggage scale that I bought off of Amazon for this purpose - although it really does work for luggage, too. I wrap the strap around the neck just below the headstock. The scale zeros out after turning it on, and then I list the guitar off the ground by lifting the scales handle. When it has the weight, the reading flashes. Easy peasy.

BTW, these things go for about $12 on Amazon and run off of the round lithium battery.

I’m gonna get one at that price, even though it only gets used once for each guitar. My other plot: A fish scale, just leaves me cold & I’d never going to get the scent of walleye off them.

The upside of that is that whenever you play your guitars, they will also connect you to the peaceful feeling of fishing. You'll get that "peaceful easy feeling." The next thing you'll know you'll be singing songs by the Eagles.

To me a 6 pound guitar feels very light, and an 8 pound guitar feels noticeably heavier. It’s surprising the difference that only 2 pounds make.

 Didnt take the thick leather strap off, also been modified with pickup swap, pickup rings swapped to metal, knobs swapped to metal, tuners swap, and bridge swap. Bigsby will be here next week adding more weight.

I have a couple of scales, I ship a lot of stuff. I set the guitar standing up on the scale, lightly hold the neck while balancing it.

I don’t think I would like a guitar that weighs more than 9 pounds. I have a 9 pound Fender bass, and that’s my limit. My 6 pound guitars feel great, nice and light.

And for anyone needing a conversion chart, I believe 1.5 TW = 1 NLP (Norlin Les Paul).

I never really put much value on the lightness of a guitar until recent years. I remember the first time I picked up a Duo Jet. I ordered a '56 from an ad in Vintage Guitar in the mid '90s. All I really knew of them was the shape, so I was expecting it to weigh about the same as the Les Paul I had owned a couple years earlier. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I didn't really think anything about the weight until I picked it up to find that it was light as a feather and could hardly comprehend how something that looked like a Les Paul could be so dramatically much lighter. While I now want my Jets as light as humanly possible, at the time I was a little suspicious of it. A quality guitar can't possibly be this light, right? But that was the working of a child's mind, tainted by the influence of those around him who worshiped in the Church of Sustain.

Same here. Church of Sustain says thou shalt not make a guitar too light lest thou be excommunicated.

And ironically, my heaviest guitar is my Strat. I don't have a Les Paul to compare, but it's incredibly heavy for some reason. Maybe someone Implanted some lead in there somewhere.
