Back in September of 2021 I got my first and only fender tube amp and it was a 74 twin reverb with a pair of vintage 30s! Vintage 30s! Why vintage 30s?

I never really warmed up to the speakers but yet love the amp so I finally settled on a set of speakers a brand new set of celestian g12m-65 creambacks.

A fella from another forum offered a good deal on the vintage 30s and will install the cream backs later this week.

Vintage 30s would probably be the easiest speakers to sell. I'm sure you would have had multiple good offers if you tried to sell them here.
like I said I have a good offer and it saves me from spending about $150 to get the new speaker installed. Gas is expensive and Is a 4 hour round trip .

Also I don’t understand why anyone would want sue a dull and generic sounding speaker.

My electro voice is much nicer

Not to mention the vintage 30s are cheap Chinese thing.

A lot of people like V30s in fender amps because they bring out some of mids that are otherwise scooped from the amp's voicing.
That being said, Creambacks are a hugely popular choice too! Let us know how they sound.

I shall I just find the vintage 30s really bright 😂.

Definitely not a bad sounding speaker but just over used. They do brighten the Mesa up a fair bit

I'd actually never tried one until I picked up a Mesa Slant Recto 1x12 cab. The cab sounds great with the MarkV25, and also with the Quilter SuperBlock US.

Yeah the application is everything. If I had the space I’d be tempted on keeping them but I just don’t lol

One thing is certain, you don't know much about speakers,

Back around 1981 , I owned a Fender Twin Reverb . Back then Fender made a speaker cabinet with just 2 - 12inch speakers in it , the same size as the Twin Reverb amp .
I had what I always called my Fender Twin Reverb " Stack " . Kinda wish I still had it

I removed the vintage 30s from my ‘66 Twin as well; I had a pair of 100W G12Ts reconed and converted to the correct ohms. They sound much better/fuller. My apostrophe 63 twin has a pair of WGSET 90s, and my hand wired 65 twin reissue has a pair of Weber California 12s.

I've found new Vintage30's (Chinese or British) to be bright for a while.

But after they've been blasted (er..."broken in") for a few months, they tame considerably. Very noticeable tone change.
I have a pair that have been in my Carvin Belair since new a couple of decades ago, and they're far from annoyingly bright.
Add to that the fact that the Belair has been modified (see "Hasserl Mods" with your Google-fier), and the result is a hellaciously good machine.
