The question was asked on the other forum and all of the texts that I have to check do not identify which of the workers came up with the design for the pickup. Dan, do you remember?

Dan Duffy I don't think normally checks into the forums. But I have seen him respond when specifically PM'd with a question. You might try it and see what happens.

According to Dan Duffy's book, page 108, he says the person who came up with the Hi-Lo Tron was the foreman of the Gretsch woodshop, Jerry Perito.
Everyone should have a copy of Dan's book. It's a fun read.

Read Dan Duffy's book, "Inside the Gretsch Guitar Factory 1957-1970" and indeed Mr. Jerry Perito is the person who came up with the Hi-Lo Tron pickup. If you love Gretschs' you really will like his book. As nightbird says, every gretsch guy should have a copy.............

Does anyone have a link to some good pictures of the current HT with the cover off? I've searched, but haven't found anything.

Thanks!

This is my first entry in this great world of gretsch. Good and bad , and ugly. I was the happy owner of a 61 corvette with one hilo for 25 yrs. Such a cool guitar, and versatile for only one pup. But it was in storage with a few other axes when it was robbed with 3 others. Checked for months on reverb, ebay, ash, g center. No sight. If ever you see with s/n 43255- please contact me to save my soul. Here or (424) 703-2303 in so calif.

Unfortunately Dan passed away a few years ago. It be great if he could drop in and make some new posts. We’d be the first supernatural guitar forum! Maybe he could get Chet, Cliff, George to comment too. :D

Sorry to hear it. Maybe start your own thread instead of burying it in another one? Welcome to Gretschville!

Wasn't it someone in the accounting department trying to figure out how to use left over parts? I'm only a little kidding.
