Here's 6119 #65235... made just a few guitars after your guitar in the batch (of 100). The bridge is not original equipment but the pickguard is for your reference.

The 6119 that Chet is holding is a first generation of the 6119 model… hollowbody, open F holes, cherry red finish, and a single Filtertron humbucker. Your 6119 is the later evolution of the species… sealed top, brown stain finish and dual HiloTron pickups. Your guitar’s pickguard would have been silver. You can source repros of this and even score an original on EBay if you’re patient.

Hi Wayne, thanks again! I found this 1966 one in reverb. Are’66 and’64 identical? They look like it.

Why certainly. I like quiet walks on the beach, snuggling by a warm fire, snarky honky tonk tunes, and stomping road house bands. Sorry, no hot tub.

Hi Wayne, now I’m curious about the pickguard. It looks like the same one the cover of the Chet Atkins Workshop album? Could it be an anomaly from the factory? Also I’m wondering if it’s worth it to buy an authentic’64 pickguard to restore it?

Quick question for you. Someone linked your thread to me suggesting that the black pickguard on your guitar would be a closer match for my late fathers' 6119. If you are able to source the right one for your guitar, would you consider selling the black pickguard from yours for my dads 6119?

My thread is here, along with photos... https://www.gretsch-talk.com/threads/inheritance-of-two-gretsch-guitars-in-the-uk.222432/

All the very best;

His is already cut for a neck pickup (which yours doesn't have). Duke Kramer used to sell black pickguards like that (cut and uncut). The pickguard you want is cut for a bridge pickup only and has the Chet signpost. Here's an uncut one:

but already sold... (https://reverb.com/item/64878934-gretsch-pickguard-for-6119-chet-atkins-tennessean-black)
