Hey all!
I have a customer in with a G6120 / TV Jones pickups, 9.5" FB radius, 2.9" post spacing and 2" spread, E-to-E at the saddle.

He wants a bit more width here due to playing style. 2-1/8" (as is the listed option on the site if not going with 2") seems a bit much and is going to kick the strings well off the pole pieces. I'm wondering if anyone is running 2-1/6" on this setup or what the general consensus is (pros/cons) with going even wider.

No doubt, they can notch the bridge as one sees fit but I'd like to get some feedback from players who may have travelled this road already.

I've reached out to Wayne Compton (or his son?) via the website but haven't received a reply. If someone has a phone number for the shop, that would be great as well. Google didn't pull anything up and the website only lists an address.

Thanks in advance!
Mike

P.S.
Wayne, if you're here, it would be great to 'meet' you and have a quick chat! Cheers.

I don’t like the wide 2-1/8, even though I play fingerstyle(awkwardly). I prefer the compact 2” but I also prefer for the strings to run (more or less) parallel to the fretboard edge for orientation poipoises. It’s a predicament.

Wayne got back to me. Thanks guys. Should this help out anyone in future, his recommendation was 2-1/16” max.

I believe this will still stay within pole piece alignment and if anything improve slightly on the strings running parallel to the FB edges higher up the neck. Going for the aluminum version without tone chamber.

I’ll report back with player feedback once installed.

Hey gents - I received the Compton bridge from Wayne (no tone chamber) in aluminum and a string spread of 2-1/16". Installed on my customer's guitar today (stuck those bridge feet down with some thin double-stick while I was in there). Feels great to me - looking forward to hearing how he enjoys the upgrade.

Thanks again for helping me connect with Wayne - the bridge looks top-shelf in terms of craftsmanship!
