Bird music.

The end composition played by the orchestra is a beautiful piece, and I think that part of the reason we find it so musical is that the birds are in the 'spaces' of the musical stave, giving the last 5 notes of the A minor diatonic scale (F, A, C, E, G) , with the timings and length of the notes and rests decided by the composer.

Purely by chance, I was visiting the Tate Gallery in Liverpool this afternoon, and saw this work by the Argentinian artist, Jorge Macchi. It didn't take long to realise he was employing a similar technique as in the bird video, except that the notes were played on a music box with the timings decided by the cars entering the frame, and the notes were from both the spaces and the lines of the stave, vertically rather than horizontally. I had to film it to share with you:

LOL that is too cool. Now do different spieces of birds compose different kind of music? I'd like to hear the Ramones birds 😆

Now I have that song in my head! Styx Thanks! Of course there are worse songs to have in your head. But I am now seriously gassing for that Oberheim! Sorry got side tracked blame @thunder58

Now no offense intended but I think the birds were way more melodic!

I wonder what else we could look at and find music in it.

Now that we have seen and heard the music towards the end the piece is played by the Youtube symphony orchestra. When did youtube get an orchestra? I can't imagine they would do it for the heck of it so they must make money off of it.

It seems the Youtube Symphony Orchestra have only performed twice: once in April 2009 at Carnegie Hall, and again at the Sydney Opera House on March 20, 2011.

In the intro to the performance of the birds piece at the Guggenheim, we are told "Musicians from the Juillard School and the Youtube Symphony Orchestra", so I'm assuming they were some of the musicians who had performed with the YSO on those previous dates?
