    1943 Willys Jeep

So, we made it! The weather has been perfect today and we've really had a blast. Here's a few photos of the Jeep at the show - I'll take some more of the other vehicles tomorrow. We're at a small local Steam Railway this weekend so tomorrow will include a run on the railway and then I get to be...

    DAW Recommendations, please!

I've used Reaper for years and it's fantastic. Great value and has more than enough for my level of music production.

    1943 Willys Jeep

The biggest issue now is visibility. Those guns on the passenger side restrict a huge amount of vision on that side... Not a huge issue in general, but it could pose an issue if another vehicle was to pull out of a junction on the right hand side. We leave plenty of room anyway and I guess we'll...

    1943 Willys Jeep

Thanks folks - Got a few little bits to trouble shoot this week before the show but it will definitely be there. We found late last night that the brake master cylinder is leaking... We've ordered a replacement so that will be Wednesday evenings job. Whilst we found out why we were stuck in...

    1943 Willys Jeep

So, we finally got to to go out for our first run this weekend after a few busy weeks of gigging and bad weather - or both! Unfortunately it wasn't trouble free. We did a short run of 2 or 3 miles and Unfortunately got stuck in 2nd gear. We got it back home and this morning set about trying to...

    Black Phoenix

Thanks for the recommendations folks - defininitely a few things to try. I've never even considered round core strings before. It definitely seems odd that this guitar is so susceptible to string gauge. I know they all are somewhat, but 10s feel like rubber bands and 11s feel like steel bars...

    Black Phoenix

😂😂 Maybe his English cousin! Thanks for the recommendation - I'll give them a try! Thanks for the recommendation. Currently using Ernie Ball Nickel Wound 11-48 (which I use on everything). It just seems odd that this particular guitar is an issue.

    Black Phoenix

This weekend, I finally got around to taking out my Dad's Black Phoenix for the first time in a little while. He's owned it for the last 12 months or so and it's a guitar really like the look of. Unfortunately, I just can't seem to get comfortable with it. When he first acquired, it was strung...

Thank you - Keep the videos coming! I wish I could play multiple instruments and sing...

Well this one is a looker! (Penguin... sig model)

I love the wood work on the body, but something about this one just doesn't seem 'right' to me. Maybe it's the dark plastics? The pickups also aren't to my liking (I've tried them in a couple of guitars now), but I appreciate Gretsch are trying to appeal to a wider audience than us fashioned...

Even the Losers - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover video posted

Great job! Big Tom Petty fan here - I've been looking at covering a few TP tracks myself lately so I can bring out our 12 string Rick for a little while (When I get it back from a friend it's on loan to). So many great songs to choose from. If I could bring back one artist that's sadly left us...

    1943 Willys Jeep

Thanks folks - Just returned home after a busy couple of days... Friday we drove down to Chippenham to collect the bike and then did the short hop to Reading for a gig. And a happy Dad.... This will probably be the last you'll see of the bike for a month or so. We're planning to take it...

    1943 Willys Jeep

Went over to Dad's last night and he's finished doing the plumbing for the rear fuel tanks: The tanks aren't functional so we don't have to worry about it being too perfect. The bracket that sits around the tank selector is cutrently being paint and will go back in this weekend. On Tuesday...

Would a set of TV Jones Brian Setzer be an upgrade over High Sensitive F'Trons on a Falcon?

Upgrade? No. Different? Yes. As others have suggested, try some before buying if possible or listen to as many demos as you can. They're definitely more aggressive sounding pickups and I love them on my Hotrod for the more aggressive sound, but if you want the smoother more classic rockabilly...

    Eddie Cochran Tribute

Thank you - The venue is a really nice place. Played there a few times now and there's always a good crowd in, but this was something special. I've never had a crowd get behind a band so quickly (not at our level anyway - That's usually reserved for well established artists. That's awesome -...

    Eddie Cochran Tribute

That's very kind - thank you 😊 I think the difficulty with this kind of thing is knowing how much of yourself to leave in there... We considered bringing out acoustics, using backing singers and a sax etc... But, it's just not us. In the end, we just decided to be ourselves and play it the way...

    Eddie Cochran Tribute

Thanks folks - I'm hoping (if we get to do it again) that I'll be able to record the audio properly next time. It doesn't sound too bad considering it's a blend of 5 cameras in the room but it would be nice to record a live album :)

    Eddie Cochran Tribute

We had 6 6120s with us for the night - we usually only bring 3 (1 each and a backup), but because the 2 sets were so different, we had to double up. The front man borrowed one of our Cochran guitars and I played the other - I think, between Dad and I, we have 12 6120s now. Looked cool on stage...
