Just to add to the mix from NZ, I bought a 5232T Midnight Saphire and a 5655T Jade Grey recently and both are perfectly made. I'm not entirely sure about the pickups (having and preferring the pickups in both my Japanese 6119 stock and 6122 II with TV Jones) but both play very nicely.
The 6122...
Ha, we are the same. I struggled with this too, swapping them around multiple times BUT concluded the body top was lower and it looked the least worse this way :)
I ended up with the Jade Metallic and am very happy with it. It really is comfortable and I'm loving it!
To answer my original question. The 5655T/G IS almost LP size, It is a very similar width but is slightly longer in the body by a few centimetres. It "might" be very slightly thinner as...
Thanks, everyone for the advice, it seems like it really does play into an F-Hole LP kind of area. Very tempting.
Further internet research shows there is a 5655t and a 5655tg....does anyone know what the difference between the T and the TG might be?
I thought maybe pickups but that doesn't...
I am lucky to have slowly wheeled and dealed and accumulated a few nice guitars (the more expensive ones were acquired as used bargains scouring eBay etc.). For this discussion a 6119 Tennesee Rose and a 6122 II Double cut (as per avatar).
I just recently bought new a 5232t (the double cut...
Fantastic, would love a birth or near birth year guitar!
I heard that the guitars kept in cases binding had issues but if left out not so much...maybe that is why?
Thank you for the advice guys . Sadly the guitar ended up goign for more than i thought it would so let it pass.
Anyway, for reference sake here was the reply i got from TV Jones themselves...
It is possible to mount the No Ears T-Series in your 5120. You’ll need to mount the pickup to a small...
Looking for advice.
When I bought my 6122 II it came with a new set of TV Jones T-Armond pickups.
My plan was to use the 6122 for awhile and swap them out but I like that (and the T/Rose) too much to make changes.
I had in the past a 5120 which was an AMAZING guitar to play but I just didn't...
I too love the BIgsby. HAve put on eon my TV Silver Epi Les Paul. Have plans for my tele as well.
My first and sole guitar for the first 5 odd years was a new 1997 Ibanez RG470. I do miss that Trem system, grew to really like it, so much so that my vibrato sucks because i would use the heel of...
Hi All
A bit of advice and knowledge if you don't mind.
I have a lovely looking and playing Tennesee Rose I bought off Ebay a few years ago but am intrigued that a Silver Falcon has come up locally at what currently seems like a pretty good price.
Like most I lust after a White Falcon but...
Haha, Russ I hear ya.
As a huge Elvis fan I can't wait for it either...will be checking "online" for the next few months for sure....probably buy the DVD if they make it too.
Sorry not relelvant to the OP (what a waste of money!!!)
But what a freaky thread for me....
By chance a friend of mine (our drummer) scored in a purchase the same Burns green 12 string shown early in the thread. Very kindly he has "donated" it to me and hangs nicely on the wall of the music...
Fantastic, that is (unbelievably) the exact info I was seeking, thank you very much. Sadly no one here has stock of any 5445/5441 to try.
After reading your description I fear it will be too much of a cheapy guitar for me......edging more in to the streamliner range than the pro range like...
Thanks, I did happen to notice the pickup difference after I posted. Its all a case of minor differences I guess but I cant in my mind see a "double the Price" advantage in the 5655 BUT I do have and like nice guitars. With a 6119 and a 6122 dc in the collection.
So a few questions in...
Was perusing MF the other day and found they have listed the 5445t for $499.00 I got very excited and put it in my cart thinking that would be great with the 17% holiday discount banner...alas it didn't work. That product doesn't qualify for the discount.
However I'm sort of glad it didn't work...
Yeah, i think the white back is what puts me off (and the white neck). Maybe white sides with wood back/neck and a nice bind on the body would be better....?
I would LOVE a Gretsch Billy Bo too but the price is seriously off putting, especially when it's the USA price x 1.3 for us. Fantastic looking guitars though!
Fantastic, wonderful tribute and playing. Just LOVE that sound and style of playing. AND thank you for showing me how to finally play the "Thats Alright" solo in a way I "think" i can play but at least understand!
slightly off topic but related...
Has anyone seen the Brian Wilson movie with John Cusack in it, semi recent movie a lot about the recording of the album from the persoanl side.... VERY interesting, somewhat dramatised but it seemed to be authorised so hopefully relatively truthful....
