It’s hard to say. Intangibles can be meaningful, and sometimes the entire package just speaks to you. I’m as analytical as the next fellow, but most of my guitars are either guitars I wanted when I was first learning to play, or in a few cases, designs that just spoke to me, somehow.

Better is the enemy of best. As any invention is developed, it becomes more difficult to make meaningful improvements. Even simple things, such as a shovel, can be improved upon. but the improvements are incremental once the basic art is established.
I would opine that the original Telecaster...
I sold a couple of Bad Monkeys to G-T members, a few years ago. I couldn’t find the thread, but I’m thinking $50 apiece.
IMO, this is an excellent overdrive pedal. It’s definitely along the lines of a Tube Screamer, but IMHO, a bit more mellow. This price bubble will pass, with time, although...
It doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. I have an RC 3, and it’s pretty good, but it took a while to learn. While there are better drum effects, I find the RC 3 at least adequate. If you are within 45 days of having taken delivery, maybe you can send it back.

Gib-buckers are not my favorite, although I’ve made peace with the Gib-buckers in an Epi Dot, that I’ve played on occasion. I don’t know why, but this one guitar is...
Not in the business, but I’ve seen David Gates name come up in many places. Back in the early ‘60s, Jack Nitzsche produced an album called The Lonely Surfer, and about half the songs featured a Bass VI playing the melody. David Gates was the player of the Bass VI. The Lonely Surfer had some...
I recently posted a thread about Aspirational Instruments, which is along the same lines.
The definition of terms is a bit slippery. What is a “holy grail” instrument? When I was first learning guitar, Chet’s Country Gent would have seemed as untouchable as some legendary holy relic, so yes, at...
For years, I liked simple guitars with small inlays, chrome hardware, simple binding, etc. In recent years, my tastes have moved towards more ornate guitars. Some of the fancier Gibsons, like the L-5 Premier, Super 400 Premier, Byrdland, Johnny Smith/LeGrande really appeal to me, these days. The...
