That's a sweet looking guitar, I have a bamboo yellow. What sonic differences did the bigsby bridge make compared to the original melita bridge? I'm thinking of swapping mine out for exactly your setup.
Thank you all for the great input. I used some temporarily shims(two pics stacked on top of each other) under the pickup just to get an understanding how it will sound and it was such an improvement. I'm going to try to make a 2mm shim out of some plexi glass. Wish me luck!
I'm wondering if anyone have tried putting a T-Armond in the bridge position and then left the stock gretsch dynasonic pickup in the neck?
I have a hard time connecting with the sound of my 2009 Dyna Club when playing on the bridge position using the stock pickup. I have tried to adjust the...
No mine was made in 2011 if I remember correctly!
Is there a specific reason you would go with the wooden base instead of aluminum?
If a understand you correctly the bigsby you linked is a B6 but with the same hole layout as the G-Cut B6 Right? If I buy just a regular B6 with an elongated...
Thank you. Mine is a limited edition bamboo yellow with dynasonics. If I'm informed correctly the bamboo finish never appeared on vintage country clubs but it has the dynasonics so I guess it hints at the pre-58 Country Clubs right?. I'm thinking of maybe purchasing this set...
Thank you! I was actually wondering about the bridge base of melita bridges. I'm not too worried about the intonation, just a straight bar would work and seems like a nice option.
That's a nice trio of yours!
I recently got a Country Club with a bigsby and melita bridge. I love the guitar but aren't too fond of the melita bridge.
I don't have a lot of knowledge of other types of bridges for Gretsch guitars so I would appreciate if you fine folks would recommend a good replacement.
I can finally post a picture here because a couple of weeks ago I got a Gretsch. So here is my trio. A Fender AV64 Telecaster, a 2009 Gretsch Country Club and a Fender Road Worn Jazzmaster. What can I say, I like twang.:p
Sounds good, thank you. Since it's a pretty good deal I'll have to buy it and at least try it out. It will be my first time owning something with Dynasonic pickups. :)
So after being on the look-out for used Gretsch guitars for a long time I've finally found something I'm quite interested in. It's a Country Club in Bamboo Yellow. After looking at a lot of pictures online I can't really decide on what shade the Bamboo Yellow actually is? In some pictures it's...
Yup you're right. Since I love the bright sound and feel of vintage-style fender single-coils I guess I should just go ahead with the dynasonic since they're in the same realm as the guitar sound I like and have at home.
Yeah I'm with you. I own a Jazzmaster with flatwounds and I wonder if a Dynasonic equipped guitar would be redundant. If I only could test some out... there's hardly any stores around my area that carries Gretsch. :/
I own a Jazzmaster and a Telecaster which are both quite bright guitars, I wonder if a Dynasonic equipped Gretsch would be redundant and I'm better of with something more different like filtertrons?
So I'm curious what you tend to play when using filtertrons vs dynasonic pickups. Why do you specifically reach for your filtertron equipped Gretsch rather than the one with dynasonics and vice verse?
I would love to hear your opinions.
