Continuing the Best of Lists for 2022. What's the best concert/show you saw this year?
Mrs MT and I saw the largest number of shows we've ever had this past year, at a dozen musical shows and a handful of comedy gigs. Most were good-to-great, but 2 stood out for me.
Earth, Wind and Fire in...
December is the classic time for Best Of Lists.
First up - What's the best bit of gear you acquired in 2022?
For me it's the B&G Crossroads Step Sister.
Beautiful to look at. Great size, very playable, nice neck. I went from playing Autumn Leaves on the neck to Penetration on the bridge and...
Irene Cara, who found found fame and flash dancing and singing in the early 80s has died. She was 63. Too young. RIP
If you come across any guitar-related Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, post 'em here!
I got an email that Neunaber is offering $50-100 off their pedals, including the new Wet Reverb v5, starting today.
I've been a member of Gretsch Talk for 4922 days. In that time I've posted 20,167 times, or almost 4.1 times/day. I've been alive 21,582 days, so G-T has been part of my life for almost a quarter (22%) I'm not much of a guitar player, although I post as more of an expert than I am. I appreciate...
Last concert of a very busy 2022. Slide guitar virtuoso Sonny Landreth and lap steel expert Cindy Cashdollar played at the Dakota in downtown Minneapolis last night. This was my third try at seeing Sonny. The first time was postponed due to COVID, then I was sick for the makeup show (not...
The Powerball lottery tonight is expected to reach $1.6 billion. At odds of 290 million to one, you can argue mathematically that buying $6 worth of tickets is actually a break even move (with only 1 winner.) Assuming you did and you won, what one item would you splurge on first? You can't say...
Inspired by @Cryin_Caleb_Aaron, who stated in a thread that Jerry Lee Lewis' Live in Hamburg is his favorite live album, I decided to ask everyone that question: what's your Desert Island Live Disc? (You can mention up to three, but have to mark one as the absolute best.)
Reverb released their list of top selling guitars for the past year. The Jim Dandy is the best selling acoustic! And the Gin Rickey is #13.
Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy
Fender American Acoustasonic Telecaster
PRS SE P20E
Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster
Taylor GS Mini Mahogany
Heard about this yesterday. Overwhelming amount of music. Anyone order it?
$139 list price, $110 at Amazon
In the midst of looking to significantly downsize, I got a great deal on Non-Gretsch from My Rare Guitars. Respected newer brand. I've lusted after their Custom Shop models but this is from their Asian made line. Family member in the model name.
What guitar brands do you like that are no longer in business?
I suggest Parker Guitars. I loved them conceptually as very different plus they incorporated piezo into the mix. If only the neck was a bit thicker.
