Classic Filterton Pick Up mount conversion to a PAF type mount

Thanks for the tips my fellow Gretschies. The Philadelphia link didn't work, but I understand that they are still out of stock. But allready decided to make a little plate of Messing or Alluminium. Just waiting for a friend who works a lot with these metals to get me some strips (as he promissed)...

Anyone tried the new 5260 baritones?

I own a 5260 hardtail as well as Vintage Modified Bass VI . I have the Gretsch baritone tuned A to A & the Bass VI E to E. Both are verry different in sound, but the low end on the Gretsch sounds fantastic. To me a bit like the low tones on a Grand Piano verry full with massive sustain with a bit...

Classic Filterton Pick Up mount conversion to a PAF type mount

Hello fellow Gretschies I have a question about placing a set of (old type) black top filtertron pick ups in a PAF type mount. The mounting rings where the blacktops will be placed in are two nice chromed ones, but they come with only one screw whole at each side (see picture 1) The Blacktop Pick...

Thanks a lot for all the nice replys. And a verry musicall 2022 to you all. This afternoon I did a little comparissing with 5 of the Gretsches. Recorded the same melody lines in an almost clean Amp setup (only added a little reverb) The guitars I compared were : G5420T (black top Filter'Trons)...

New Gretsch Day 24dec. New 5420T

Well I treated her nicely in the so called "shoe department" If I would ever get as manny Gretsches as "pairs of shoes" she has collected over the years(my little "Imelda Marcos of the north";)) I'd guess I could start a Gretsch Museum of my own.:DGood health & a musical 2022 to you too...

New Gretsch Day 24dec. New 5420T

Well last year I posted about the Misses moanin' over a new 5622T. This Christmas she liked my new "5420T orange stain"" right away. And a beauty she is for sure (yeah, the Misses too). It's my seventh Gretsch, and I thought I earned this one after a year surviving heart surgery & a serious...

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss… with Duane Eddy on Baritone!

Just checked their Website, Verry interesting !!! The TK Smith pick ups seem to be "Ultra Gretsch/TV Jones" especially in Rockabilly/Western Swing territory. And those guitars are stunning !!! I assume that JD McPherson's guitar is custom build for him. A beauty ! Still I guess you have to come...

The VI/Baritone is nice but what the Hell is that beautifull Guitar JD McPherson is playing ???? It looks a bit like a Gretsch Billy Bo but I don't recognize these pick ups. Does annyone know.....? It reads "Smith" on the headstock ?

R.I.P. Dusty Hill from ZZ TOP

So sad. An Icon gone. We don't live forever, but didn't see this one coming. Seen them live severall times from the mid '90ies into 2003. Last one was in a restored Roman Amphi theater in Germany. Totally awsome. One of my best concerts ever. With the "Rough Boy" solo echoing back from the back...

Whose Guitar Would You Like To Own?

I know we're talking guitars here. Though a guitarist I've played bass in severall bands as well, my all time hero on the bass is John Entwhistle from The Who. Here are 3 of his "battle axes". The one on the left is a Gibson body, with a Fender neck, constructed by Mr. Entwhistle himself (he hated...

Though the wife said no,expecting new G5126 Electromatic Silver Sparkle friday

Excellent story about an excellent guitar Axis 39,because that's what the 5127 sure is !!! Been through the "Setzer" phase. Though still verry enjoyable, I'm discovering the deeper "soul" of the 5127 right now. One of my dearest friends passed away last year. Off course I wrote a song for him...

Great Story Jena !!! :D Totally agree Axis39. Those DeArmond 2000's really shine. I've been dustin' off all my old Rock 'n Roll tunes, threw in some spring reverb & slapback delay & I'm going completely "Brian Setzer":D (allthough he remains to be the "King of Swing" of course;))

I guess the "nickel" ones are the plated ones Randy99CL. A funny fact about Paul Bigsby I found while googling around, was that he started out as a mechanic for "Crocker" bikes which are wonderfull pieces of engineering as well.

Tele Prices, Just Can't Get My Head Around It.

The basics of this Tele(parts)caster is a Harley Benton swamp ash which cost me new about $160. I sold the inferior Wilkinson pick ups fo $50. Bought a new set of Kinmann AVn broadcaster pick ups for about $280 . Changed the electronics for CTS pots (the tone is a push/pull,which pulled bypasses...

Thanks for the link Randy99cl. A verry usefull tool this serial number detector. Allready found out that my G5126 comes from the Peerless factory. And I get the impression that those early G512x came with a B70 and the later ones which come from the Samick factory all have the B60.. Guess I'll...

Big in the US But Nowhere Else

Lawn darts, totally unknown here in Europe. Which might be OK ,as we had European football hooligans (soccer, which is a huge sport overhere) throwing darts at each other during games. People got seriously hurt. Those lawn darts might have been fatal;) And comming from the land of "Heineken"...

Big in the US But Nowhere Else

Growing up in the 70ies in a major town in the north of the Netherlands, I knew severall serious "deadheads" in my hometown. One of them I still see occasionally and he still is. In those "post-Hippie days" The dead was quite popular overhere. And Kiss was huge overhere as well in their hay days.

That's a verry interesting observation about the guitar having a B70 (7) bigsby Randy99CL. I didn't notice it when I bought the guitar. But indeed it is the same bigsby as on my "G5622T-CB Electromatic Centerblock" Can you tell me if the G512x series came with a B60 originally ? If so I'll go...

Well here are some pictures of the new 5126. Which indeed is a wonderfull guitar. Verry nice when strumming gently with excellent tone definition and verry nice warm sound. And when you throw in some slapback delay & spring reverb a rock 'n roll beast !!! :D As these modern DeArmonds allready...

    TV Jones wiring harness: wow

I do all the soldering & electronics in my guitars myself. But I'm verry experienced with a soldering Iron. I do quite a lot of repairs of guitar electronics. So that's where I got my experience from. But I've encountered a lot of "Horor" wiring situations in Guitars. Understanding guitar...
